Learning Renewal is an initiative from the Office of Governor JB Pritzker to provide education funding through the American Rescue Plan Act to address unprecedented interruptions to classroom learning and development.
The Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) has been provided with $9,850,000 in federal Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Funds (GEERF) II funding to distribute to the community college system in order implement key aspects of the P-20 Council Learning Renewal Resource Guide.
The original funding period for the Learning Renewal initiative was for FY22, July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. With the GEER II extension of the award term, the funding period has been extended for FY23, through June 30, 2023. Extension amendments have been distributed to all grant recipients and must be signed and returned before June 30, 2022.
In FY23, required periodic reporting will continue to be due 30 days after the end of regular calendar quarters. The updated closeout reporting date for all expenditure reports is July 30, 2023.
The primary contact for the grant is Deana Schenk, Senior Director for Learning Renewal, deana.schenk@illinois.gov, (217) 524-5502. Colleges may reach out to her with questions.
