The Illinois Community College Board is the state coordinating board for community colleges and has statutory responsibility for administering state and federal grants to community college districts and adult education providers and managing high school equivalency testing for Illinois. The Illinois Community College Board is assisted by an executive director and staff of approximately 50 located in Springfield, Chicago, and East St. Louis.

Illinois community colleges serve almost 600,000 residents each year in credit, noncredit, and continuing education courses. Illinois is home to 48 colleges in 39 community college districts which provide high quality, accessible, cost-effective educational opportunities to the entire state.

Adult Education and Literacy Division

  • Director for Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE): We invite applications for the position of Director for Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education. This position will report to the Senior Director for Adult Education and Literacy. The position will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the local IELCE programs. IELCE programming supports the successful integration of immigrants and English learners into American society by providing services such as English classes, citizenship preparation and civics courses, literacy programs, and workforce development activities for adult immigrants. This position is classified under the State Universities Civil Service System. Salary range: $64,000—$69,000 per year. Support Staff

  • Assistant to the Deputy Executive Director: We invite applications for the position of Assistant to Deputy Executive Director which will ensure efficiency of administrative processes. This position will report directly to the Deputy Executive Director. This position is classified under the State Universities Civil Service System. Salary range: $37,500—$47,500 per year. Workforce Education

  • Senior Director for Career and Technical Education: We invite applications for the position of Senior Director for Career and Technical Education. This position will report to the Associate Deputy Director for Career and Technical Education. The role involves overseeing the administration and implementation of the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Improvement Act (Perkins V). Responsibilities include developing, reviewing, and approving local applications, and making funding recommendations. You will administer the Illinois State Plan for Perkins V, coordinating activities with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and aligning statewide initiatives, acting as the main point of contact with ISBE. This position is classified under the State Universities Civil Service System. Salary starts at $72,625 per year.
