Board Information

The Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) is the state agency responsible for coordinating and supporting Illinois’ 45 community colleges. The Board provides leadership in policy development, system planning, funding, and accountability to ensure equitable access and opportunity for all students.

The board is composed  of eleven members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate for six-year terms. In addition, one student member, selected annually by the ICCB Student Advisory Committee, serves a one-year term. The Board Chair is appointed by the Governor.

The Board typically meets five times each year – in January, March, June, September, and December – with special meetings scheduled as needed. All meetings are conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act and members of the public are welcome to attend or provide comment.

The ICCB operates under the Public Community College Act (110 ILCS 805), which establishes the powers and duties of the Board.
