The annual ICCB SAC Student Advocacy Day event will be held the morning of Tuesday, April 9th, meeting location is the 2nd floor of the ICCB office, 401 E Capitol Ave, then proceeding to the Illinois State Capitol for visits with legislators, we have the rotunda at the capitol reserved from 11-1. This year students chose to advocate for additional community college funding and educating the new administration on the importance of a community college education. I have attached the handouts feel free to copy.
This year’s layout is a little different than years past. Rotunda and meeting space availability was not available the day after PTK like in years past. Having it the day of PTK was our only option. Before we head to the capitol, we will have an open house style session in our conference room including packet pick up, the forms attached, housekeeping information and Q&A. With having limited space and seating students are not required to come to ICCB beforehand, making appointments during this time with your legislator is encouraged. The agenda and link to the legislator finder are included in the registration link. Registration is set up to have one point of contact and the number of students that plan to attend.
Due to the growth of our office, parking in the ICCB 4th Street lot is no longer an option. The closest long term parking is a parking ramp two blocks east of our office at 6th and Capitol Street or there is on-street parking adjacent to our building. Meters are $.50 per hour, and most have two-hour limits. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.
