Day 1: How to Celebrate CTE Month

CTE Month is a great time to recognize and celebrate CTE achievements and accomplishments nationwide. The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), in collaboration with other organizations, has coined this year’s CTE Month theme as Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow!”.

To help all stakeholders raise awareness of the role that CTE plays in getting students ready for careers and college, they have identified the following ways to engage:

  • Recognize CTE at the State Level Engage policymakers in the conversation by encouraging them to designate February as CTE month. For 2017, Governor Rauner signed a proclamation designating February as CTE Month to show Illinois’ commitment to advancing CTE.
  • Celebrate Recognize those in your community – high-achieving CTE students, exemplary educators, or impactful partners that have a positive influence in CTE by celebrating their accomplishments through awards programs.
  • Involve Your Partners Encourage all the stakeholders who make your CTE programs successful – local, state or national level – including education, community, and business partners to advocate for CTE to their own networks, and invite partners to participate in celebratory events or site visits. If you are hosting an event to celebrate CTE, let us know and we can spread the word!
  • Coordinate and Get the Word Out Supply partners with media posts and templates to be sure all partners are messaging under a common theme and to eliminate confusion. CTE Month is celebrated nationwide, including on social media. Join in on Twitter chats, upload photos, feature student work, and engage in discussion with CTE advocates from across the country using  #CTEMonth. In the next week, the ICCB will be supplying a media template for colleges to utilize, so be on the lookout!
