Sauk Valley Community College Multicraft Extended Internship Program
Ten local manufacturers in the Sauk Valley area have teamed up to bridge the manufacturing skills gap by promoting education and providing a work-based experience. The Multicraft Extended Internship Program (MEIP) provides an outstanding opportunity for select students to obtain valuable part-time work experience while earning their two-year associate in applied science degree in the Multicraft Technology Program at SVCC. Representatives from the local industries have united as a board and collectively accept applications from interested candidates that are interested in the collaborative program. After the representatives of the MEIP board select their new candidates for employment in their individual company, students enroll in the Multicraft Technology program at SVCC and attend classes 2 days a week, while working 3 days a week. Local high school students from the Whiteside Area Career Center (WACC) are also gaining dual credit through toward the Multicraft Technology program in the areas of Welding and Computer-Aided Drafting. The MEIP board plans to visit SVCC and WACC to host career days, in which the students can apply to the program and seek the opportunity to gain workforce experience and continue their education at SVCC.  The following companies are serving on the MEIP program:
