try-it-yourself

Hopefully you have spent some time at our web site and have developed a clear understanding of why technology is becoming an integral component of good classroom teaching. The teachers that are featured on our web site are some of the best teachers from across the state of Illinois, and they have developed their technology-integration skills through professional development activities and first hand classroom experiences.

If you are interested, our "Try It Yourself" section could be your very first attempt at integrating technology into good teaching. The experience will be fun and educational, and the best part is you are doing it yourself! As with beginning to play an instrument or starting a sport, the most meaningful part of learning comes when someone picks up a violin or volleyball and tries it out. In the case of preservice teaching, any modules that you can include in your electronic portfolio will gain notice when you join the job market and participate in interviews. A sample rubric is provided so that you can assess the modules you develop.

Give it a try. Who knows? This experience may be the spark that ignites a life-long love for teaching and for using technology to enhance learning!
