Course
English 101
Description
Develop new vocabulary to express commonly used aphorisms and sayings and the ability to
"translate" unfamiliar terms that express common sayings back to the familiar forms.
Transferability
This should be transferable to a wide range of disciplines. It will build vocabulary and
provide experience in using the thesaurus and dictionary, as well as develop skills to
analyze a short text. Such skills are useful in virtually any field using written or
verbal expression, including the social sciences, literature and rhetoric, physical sciences,
and other humanities courses.
