Who was this Illinois PT3 site designed to serve?
Any higher education instructor in Illinois who is looking for ideas to integrate technology into the classroom.
One of the goals of the site is to provide instructors with easy access to technology modules created by other
instructors for use in the higher education classroom. It is hoped that their modules will assist educators in modeling the
use of technology for the preservice teachers.
How do I use the site?
The "Preparing Technology-Proficient Teachers in Illinois" website is designed to help educators by providing a
resource for technology infusion ideas.
Using the site is easy. Take a minute to browse the site, review the modules, and visit the educational links that
are highlighted. The training material provided to Illinois educators is located on the site too. Feel free to look at the
training materials, and use the PowerPoint and other tools to educate others on the topic of technology integration.
How much technology experience do I need in order to use the information on this site in my classroom?
The modules presented on the site range in scope from simple integration strategies to advanced infusion ideas.
The site provides a great starting point for an educator looking to begin to use technology as a teaching and learning tool.
It also serves as a resource for instructors who are already using technology seamlessly in the classroom.
What software do I need on my computer to be able to use the site?
Some of the modules have worksheets and lesson portions that are saved in PDF format, so Acrobat Reader is necessary
to view some of the module materials. If you are unable to open some of the documents, use the following link to download the

Who created the lesson modules found on this site?
Practicing instructors who are considered content area experts in their fields created the modules. The developers came
from both community colleges and universities across Illinois. The modules were examined by an extensive group of reviewers made
up of representatives from all levels of education. The reviewers included persons who are experienced in technology. The modules
were field tested by the developers for classroom effectiveness.
Why do the Illinois Community College Board, the Illinois Board of Higher Education,
and the Illinois State Board of Education feel that this PT3 Project was important to preservice teachers in the state?
The three Boards believe it is important for instructors in higher education to model instructional strategies and
technology use that are common in the world today. By learning through these modeled strategies, prospective teachers will
have a better frame of reference for infusing technology into their own classroom instruction, thus impacting the next generation
of students.
Is there training associated with the information on this site?
The Illinois Community College Board and its project partners have provided regional trainings in the past for
community college and university faculty. Since our grant funding has ended, we encourage interested faculty and staff
to check out the "Training" tab to find resources and handouts to assist with PT3 training.
