Spoon River College and Precision Ag Tech
The Precision Agriculture Technology certificate at Spoon River College was established out of an industry partnership between an SRC Agricultural Instructor, Dr. Michael Woods, and Don Taylor, the Integrated Solutions Specialist with Martin Sullivan.
Course content and delivery has been crafted by industry professionals with real-world experience. In light of the partnership with Martin Sullivan, students are afforded an opportunity to access state-of-the-art equipment with the newest on-board technology including: tractors, combines, and sprayers.
Precision agriculture combines computer technology with GPS and mapping software to record and track yield information. Classes focus on a variety of subjects necessary to be successful in this field, including production agriculture, mechanical systems, electronics, and even business strategies and global farming issues. Students spend a significant amount of class time completing hands-on activities with the ability to have one-on-one time with the industry professionals.
