Shnine Knowles never believed she would actually be attending college with dreams of moving on to get a degree. When she first registered for a GED class, she got frustrated when there were not enough students for the class. WHen she tried again, bad weather plagued her goals of continuing to get her GED. Working a full--time job sometimes made it difficult for her to stay focused, but when she enrolled in Vicki Clark's GED Prep Class at Frontier College, she knew her goal was attainable. With Clark's encouragement and that of her boyfriend, Mark Todd, it was not easy for Shnine to even think about giving up. Shnine stated, "My boyfriend was actively involve as a student at Frontier College and made me realize it was time for me to grow up. Mrs. Clark was always there to help and would not let me quit!"

Shnine is now enrolled in her third semester at Frontier Community College, where she is a member of Student Advantage Network and Phi Theta Kappa. She maintains a 4.0 GPA and plans to continue her studies to get a degree in Paleontology. Shine states, "I'm still working full time, so the challenge is sometimes pretty tough. Passing the GED gave me the confidence I needed to Realize I am capable and I do NOT plan to quit now. I would like to even continue my education to get a Master's and maybe even a Doctorate Degree."
