Narrative Time in the Visual Arts

Polly Hoover
Wilbur Wright College

Course

The visual arts component of the introduction to the interdisciplinary humanities course, Humanities 123

Description

This module outlines in a PowerPoint presentation the main issues covered in my review of narrative time in the visual arts. It is a thematic complement to the emphasis on storytelling in the English class to which this course is yoked.

I have decided, however, to enhance the material by transforming this PowerPoint presentation into a Flash animation, but such a transformation would result in concomitant technology issues. As it stands, it is much easier for all users to access.

Transferability

This module would be appropriate for any course that has a visual arts component such as the introduction to the humanities, introduction to art history, and introduction to art appreciation. It would also be appropriate as a complement to a literature class, which focuses on narrative.
